Anxiety can feel like constant mental noise — racing thoughts, tight chest, restless sleep, and difficulty focusing. At Intact Health Center, we use personalized neurofeedback training to help regulate the brain’s stress response and restore emotional stability.
Anxiety isn’t just worry — it’s a dysregulated stress response in the brain. When the nervous system stays in “fight-or-flight” mode, even small stressors can feel overwhelming.
• Racing or intrusive thoughts
• Difficulty relaxing
• Sleep disruption
• Irritability or mood swings

Anxiety can appear in many forms, and each type affects the brain and body in unique ways. Some of the most common include:
Persistent worry or nervousness that can make it hard to relax or focus.
Fear of judgment or embarrassment in social situations often leading to avoidance.
Overthinking or fear that affects school, work, or athletic performance.
Time management issues, task initiation difficulty, and planning overwhelm.
Common in children, marked by excessive fear when away from parents or familiar environments.
Heightened stress or reactivity linked to past experiences or difficult memories.
Anxiety during the teenage years can affect academic performance, emotional development, sleep quality, and social relationships. When stress responses remain heightened, teens may struggle to feel calm, focused, or confident. Early intervention and structured brain regulation training can help create long-term emotional resilience and stability.

Real stories from real patients who have experienced the benefits of neurofeedback.
Appreciated immensely how efficient things were handled from the very first minute I stepped into the office. I initially wasn’t thrilled about getting X-rays taken until I realized “how are they going to get me to where I need to be unless they first understand where I’m at?” Real derp moment for me! Haha Walked out with noticeable relief and confident in my treatment plan laid out by the Dr. Thanks Again and highly recommend!
If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. I came from Lapeer to start neurofeedback as I have epilepsy and I learned that it can decrease seizure activity in the brain. I also went to see Dr. Colin for chiropractic work as I've been having a lot of pain in my hips and back. Everyone was extremely professional and they treated me as a friend, rather than "just a client." Since my adjustment, my pain has gone down significantly and I feel like I can stand and walk easier. Dr. Colin goes above and beyond, deserving way more than 5 stars!
I don't normally see chiro for adjustments. I uses to be a physical therapist assistant and can normally fix myself. Colin is a good friend of my son, so when I had a neck injury that I couldn't fix, I saw Colin. I was nervous, I never had my neck adjusted. Colin took xrays and described in detail my neck issues. He then proceeded to work on my neck and I left pain-free and headache free. I would recommend his services to all my friends and family.
I was out of town for Thanksgiving and needed to see a chiropractor while in Michigan. I found, Dr. Colin Smith, Intact Health Centers located in Rochester and he was able to see me that day! The care and treatment was by far "the best" experience. Even better with the experience, I could not pass up on the prices for this service(s). X-ray, consult, and adjustment was so reasonable and BETTER than where I live. I only paid $60 AND came out with a disk with my x-ray(s)!!! It's the best in the area and was not disappointed. KNOWS what he is talking about.
I've had an amazing experience at Intact Health Centers. Dr. Colin is incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and takes the time to truly understand your health concerns. I’ve been receiving both neurofeedback and chiropractic treatment, and the combination has made a noticeable difference in my focus, energy, and overall well-being. The team is friendly, the office is welcoming, and the care is top-notch. If you’re looking for a place that takes a comprehensive and personalized approach to health, I highly recommend Dr. Colin and the team at Intact!
I’ve been having immense back pain from my delivery job. After two sessions with Dr. Colin Smith, I’ve been able to get in and out of my car seamlessly without pain. I haven’t had the constant ache I was growing used to while driving. I would Highly recommend Intact Health Center for anyone needing help feeling less pain.
I had never been to a chiropractor before and was originally nervous to come in but Dr. Colin is amazing. He has helped me through my pregnancy so much with sciatic pain and back pain. I’m walking better and much more comfortable. I highly recommend you come here and see him. I’ve had quite a few sessions now and plan on continuing to see him after pregnancy as well. He listens to everything you say and truly cares about his patients.
From the moment you walk into Intact Health Care, you feel welcomed. The office is clean, modern, and has a very calming atmosphere. My chiropractor was extremely knowledgeable and explained the 'why' behind every adjustment, which really put me at ease. If you’re looking for high-quality chiropractic care with a personal touch, this is the place to go.
Neurofeedback supports the brain’s ability to regulate stress responses. By guiding brainwave activity toward more balanced patterns, it may help reduce overactivation associated with anxiety, racing thoughts, and emotional reactivity.
Neurofeedback is a non-invasive, drug-free approach. Some individuals use it alongside therapy or medication, while others pursue it as an alternative option. Any medication adjustments should be discussed with your prescribing provider.
Many patients begin noticing changes in stress tolerance, sleep, or emotional regulation within several weeks. Progress varies depending on individual brain patterns and consistency of training.
Yes. Neurofeedback is safe for children, teens, and adults. It does not involve electrical stimulation or medication — it simply provides real-time feedback to encourage healthier brain regulation.
Neurofeedback may support individuals experiencing generalized anxiety, performance-related stress, social anxiety, panic symptoms, and chronic overwhelm linked to nervous system dysregulation.
